Led by an experienced teacher trainer with more than two decades of teaching and over a decade facilitating yoga teacher trainings, the program offers steady mentorship and professional guidance that continues beyond graduation.

What Is a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training?

A 200-hour yoga teacher training is the foundational level of professional yoga education recognized by Yoga Alliance. These programs provide a structured introduction to the philosophy, practice, anatomy, and teaching methodology of yoga. Students learn how to guide safe and accessible classes, understand the principles behind yoga practices, and develop the skills needed to teach responsibly.

Many graduates go on to teach in studios, community settings, or wellness environments, while others complete the training to deepen their personal study of yoga. Whole Health Yoga’s hybrid 200-hour training integrates traditional yogic study with modern research and therapeutic perspectives to prepare teachers to work thoughtfully with diverse populations.


200 Hours Of Study and Practice

This training offers a well-rounded foundation in the philosophy, practice, and science of yoga, preparing students to approach teaching as a thoughtful and adaptive therapeutic discipline. The curriculum is designed to deepen your personal understanding of yoga while developing the knowledge and practical skills needed to teach responsibly responsibly in studios, community settings, and therapeutic environments.

A Flexible Hybrid Learning Experience

The training is composed of 120 virtual hours, 60 in-person hours, and 20 hours of distance mentoring, thoughtfully designed to support a balanced learning experience.

The 120 hours of virtual learning include both synchronous and asynchronous study, delivered through live-stream classes and pre-recorded video lessons that you can move through at your own pace.

The 20 mentoring hours are live and interactive, held in a virtual classroom or through 1-on-1 sessions that provide individualized guidance and support.

This blended format offers flexibility while maintaining the structure and accountability needed for meaningful learning.

You'll complete 60 immersive in-person hours at a beautiful private retreat center in Guadarrama, Madrid, Spain, offering a healing environment and personal mentoring experience with only 1-2 additional trainees.

Paths After Completing the Training

Graduates of the 200-hour training apply their learning in a variety of ways. Some begin teaching public or private yoga classes, while others integrate yoga practices into existing professional fields.

Many participants also complete the program to deepen their personal study of yoga and develop a lifelong practice rooted in greater understanding and self-awareness.

Founder and Lead Teacher Trainer

With decades of global teaching experience and a deep commitment to therapeutic yoga, I have dedicated my work to helping others heal through movement, breath, and an evidence-informed approach to practice. After earning a Master’s degree from the Clinton School of Public Service at the age of 55, I set out to bridge the gap between modern medicine and the ancient wisdom of yoga.

Through Whole Health Yoga, I mentor service-oriented yoga teachers and therapists while also offering individualized online therapeutic yoga sessions and guiding retreats designed to support personal practice, rest, and renewal through a therapeutic approach to yoga..

Structure
WHY’s Hybrid 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is delivered over three consecutive months through scheduled virtual sessions. In addition, each participant attends one week-long in-person immersion, scheduled for small groups of two to three trainees on a first-enrolled, first-reserved basis.

Location
Live-streamed and pre-recorded sessions are accessible through your student login on this website. The in-person immersion is hosted at a boutique retreat center in Guadarrama, Spain. Located in the Madrid region, Guadarrama is approximately a 60-minute direct train ride from Madrid–Barajas Airport.

Travel arrangement suggestions can be requested. Final arrangements are the responsibility of the participant.

Tuition includes:

  • Full 200-hour Whole Health Yoga Hybrid Teacher Training (online + in-person mentorship)

  • 6-night immersive retreat experience in Guadarrama, Spain, set against the Sierra mountains

  • Shared accommodations (option to upgrade to a private room for a more personal, solo retreat experience) with a cohort in a private, thoughtfully designed guest suite

  • Guest suite includes a bedroom (1 full bed/1 twin bed), full kitchen, full bathroom, comfortable living area, dedicated study space, and Wi-Fi throughout

  • Daily nourishment with continental breakfast and two Mediterranean-style meals

  • Full access to the retreat center’s yoga studio, garden, and pool

Additional expenses include, but are not limited to, books, transportation to Guadarrama, excursions, and any additional nights at the retreat center.

  • The WHY 200 hour teacher training is designed to meet the credentialing requirements of Yoga Alliance. The total asynchronous (self-paced) and synchronous hours must equal a minimum of 200 hours. The training schedule includes 3 months of asynchronous and synchronous hours hosted virtually and a 1 week immersion in person. The 1 week immersion schedule is detailed above.

  • Yes, a 200 hour certification from a Yoga Alliance–registered school qualifies you to teach yoga professionally. This foundational training equips you with the skills to lead group classes, offer private sessions, and begin your journey as a certified yoga instructor.

  • Absolutely. A 200 hour yoga teacher training is the essential first step toward becoming a confident, knowledgeable, and impactful yoga teacher. It offers a comprehensive foundation in yoga philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and self-practice. Our 200 hour yoga teacher training goes even further by blending ancient healing practices with modern science and mentorship to ensure your personal growth and professional readiness.

  • The highest standard recognized by Yoga Alliance is the Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500). In addition , the 200 hour certification is the first certification to qualify for the Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) credential, awarded by the International Association of Yoga Therapists through a IAYT credentialed school.

  • The total cost for the training is $3800. This total includes 200 hours of yoga teacher training, accommodations for an in-person 6-night immersion in Guadarrama, Spain, continental breakfast, 2-mediterranean style meals per day, and access to the retreat ground’s meditation garden, fire pit, and outdoor pool.

    All participants are responsible for additional costs which include, but are not limited to, books, transportation to Guadarrama, all excursions, and any additional nights at the retreat center.
